What Are the Benefits of Lip Fillers?

Lip fillers are a popular treatment that can enhance your overall appearance; the dermal fillers used are specifically designed to plump up and reshape the lips.

  • Lip fillers can be injected gradually to achieve the desired results.
  • The procedure is simple and requires little recovery time.
  • Lip enhancements is non-invasive and does not result in scarring.
  • Sessions can be completely tailored to fit the needs of each individual.

What Not to do After Lip Filler Injections?

Proper aftercare after lip filler treatment is critical to avoid swelling or severe bruising. Following lip filler treatment, you should avoid the following:

Avoid vigorous exercise

This should be avoided for 24 to 48 hours after treatment to avoid elevated blood pressure and heart rate, which can increase swelling or bruising.

High heat environments

After lip filler treatment, avoid places like steam rooms, saunas, and extremely hot showers. This should be avoided for 24 to 48 hours after your lip filler injection. If you want to take a shower immediately after, make sure the water is lukewarm. Finally, high temperatures can cause swelling to last longer and blood vessels to dilate.

Don’t drink alcohol

Alcohol is a blood thinner, so avoid it. You should avoid taking blood-thinning medications such as ibuprofen, paracetamol, aspirin, cod liver oil, and caffeine. Instead, drink plenty of water after your treatment to stay hydrated and get the full effect of your lip fillers.

Stop smoking

If you are a heavy smoker, we recommend that you refrain from smoking after treatment to reduce the risk of infection on the skin following dermal filler treatment.

Don’t drink through a straw

While it may be tempting after a lip filler treatment, drinking through a straw puts pressure on your new lip fillers, which may cause additional discomfort in addition to swelling.

Don’t put make up on your lips

Sadly, the lip balm, lip gloss or lipstick will need to be put away for the next 24 hours after your lip filler treatment. In most cases make up products can have a negative reaction with the lip fillers.

What are lip fillers?

For this procedure, dermal fillers are injected to reshape the lips. Usually, they contain hyaluronic acid, a compound that’s vital for a healthy body. The hyaluronic acid is a natural substance which is transferred into the lips via a syringe and the time taken for this process is as short as 15 minutes.

What are the different types of lip injections?

Lip fillers of different types can be used to plump up the lips, including:

  • Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Fillers
  • Collagen Lip Fillers
  • Permanent Silicone Lip Fillers
  • Fat Transfer Lip Injections
What is the result after having a lip filler?

The end result from having lip filler treatment is that your lips are plumper, fuller, brighter and have added definition. You will also see your lines and wrinkles are filled.

How long does a lip filler last?

Fillers are not permanent and last between 6 and 18 months  Following lip filler treatment,  we will provide you with full aftercare instructions to ensure you look after your lips. Although you are welcome to contact us if you have any questions, no follow-up is usually recommended at the clinic.

How soon can you smoke or vape after lip fillers?

When it comes to smoking or vaping after lip filer treatment, we would not recommend it to our clients. Not only is smoking associated with negative health issues, but it may also cause infection of the skin on the lips during the treatment healing process.

Does smoking dissolve lip filler?

Smoking is not advised when having lip fillers because it has a negative impact on the skin in general and is also associated with negative health effects. It may reduce the longevity of dermal fillers and cause them to last less time, but there is no evidence to support this cosmetically.

How to reduce swelling after lip fillers?

Clients may experience lip swelling around the lips following treatment, which can be impacted depending on the amount of lip filler used. This is a completely normal side effect of lip filler treatment. Lip swelling can occur as early as two days after treatment, but it will subside and heal within two weeks. If your lips become swollen after lip filler treatment, apply ice to them using an ice pack or a soft cloth wrapped ice cube. This will reduce pain, and the soft cloth, in particular, will not stick to the lip. Any other swelling, itching, bruising, or pain caused by the lip filler treatment will also be alleviated.

Why have my lips bruised after lip filler?

Bruising within the first couple of days following lip filler treatment is completely normal. As the needle goes through the lips, it will puncture through some of the smaller blood vessels & they will bleed under the skin and cause the bruise.

They will go away by themselves within the first few days, but for some, it can take up to a couple of weeks. If you have any concerns following lip treatments, you should always contact your aesthetic practitioner.

What can I put on my lips after fillers?

To avoid further infection after your lip filler treatment, we recommend simply applying ice to the treatment area. This will help ease any swelling or bruising discomfort, as well as itching.
