Lip Fillers

Wider and fuller lips provide extra definition to your mouth, and promote a youthful, brighter appearance. From naturally thin lips to age, there are many factors that affect the overall shape and appearance of our lips. As a result, some people may feel self-conscious and wish to change the shape of their lips and gain more confidence.

At The Aesthetics Doctor, we provide efficient, non-surgical lip filler enhancement solutions, using the safest hyaluronic acid fillers. We take pride in our patient care and experience, and we are always happy to welcome patients to our lip filler clinics in London, Leeds, and Cheshire. Dr Ahmed and his team will assess your natural facial proportions during a comprehensive lip assessment to determine the ideal way to enhance your lips.

What Not to do After Lip Filler Injections?

Proper aftercare after lip filler treatment is critical to avoid swelling or severe bruising. Following lip filler treatment, you should avoid the following:

Avoid vigorous exercise

This should be avoided for 24 to 48 hours after treatment to avoid elevated blood pressure and heart rate, which can increase swelling or bruising.

High heat environments

After lip filler treatment, avoid places like steam rooms, saunas, and extremely hot showers. This should be avoided for 24 to 48 hours after your lip filler injection. If you want to take a shower immediately after, make sure the water is lukewarm. Finally, high temperatures can cause swelling to last longer and blood vessels to dilate.

Don’t drink alcohol

Alcohol is a blood thinner, so avoid it. You should avoid taking blood-thinning medications such as ibuprofen, paracetamol, aspirin, cod liver oil, and caffeine. Instead, drink plenty of water after your treatment to stay hydrated and get the full effect of your lip fillers.

Stop smoking

If you are a heavy smoker, we recommend that you refrain from smoking after treatment to reduce the risk of infection on the skin following dermal filler treatment.

Don’t drink through a straw

While it may be tempting after a lip filler treatment, drinking through a straw puts pressure on your new lip fillers, which may cause additional discomfort in addition to swelling.

Don’t put make up on your lips

Sadly, the lip balm, lip gloss or lipstick will need to be put away for the next 24 hours after your lip filler treatment. In most cases make up products can have a negative reaction with the lip fillers.
