HAIR LOSS

WHAT IS HAIR LOSS?
Hair loss involves the thinning or complete loss of hair from different areas of the body, with the most common area being the head.
HOW TO CURE HAIR LOSS?
For some people, hair loss is a distressing experience, and they may choose to cover affected areas with wigs or items of clothing. However, there are several treatments for restoring hair and promoting healthy growth.
The Aesthetics Doctor offers bespoke hair loss solutions.
WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF HAIR LOSS?
- Hereditary hair loss – Families with a history of baldness are likely to pass the condition down
- Age
- Alopecia – a condition that involves the body’s immune system attacking hair follicles
- Hormone imbalances
- Scalp infections
- Consistent damage to hair e.g., hair pulling
Based on the causes, here at The Aesthetics Doctor, we can find the most suitable hair loss cure for your needs.
WHAT TYPES OF HAIR LOSS TREATMENTS ARE AVAILABLE?
Hair transplant
A popular surgical procedure for restoring hair is to go through a transplant. This involves taking hair from one place and moving it to an area of the body where hair is thinning.
For people who’re eligible for this hair loss treatment, there are two types of hair transplants called Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE).
During an FUT procedure, strips of tissue are removed from one area, cut up into individual parts and then grafted onto another part of the body. For FUE, individual hair follicles are extracted from the donor area and then transferred using a microsurgical needle.
Generally speaking, hair transplants can be an expensive procedure and there are more cost-effective hair loss solutions.
Vampire facial
Also known as Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), a vampire facial involves using a patient’s own blood to restore hair. More specifically, it focuses on the healing power of plasma and platelets in the blood that help to rejuvenate skin and promote new hair growth.
Platelets contain growth factors that promote the regeneration of the cells in the body, including the area of damaged hair follicles. It’s understood that PRP also increases blood flow and reduces inflammation around the follicle.
The procedure involves drawing blood from one area of the body and then separating out the plasma using a centrifuge. This is a machine that spins rapidly to separate fluids. Once this step is complete, the plasma is injected back into the affected area to stimulate hair growth.
Compared to FUE and FUT hair transplants, a vampire facial requires less recovery and is a more cost-effective hair loss cure. In addition, the procedure helps to improve skin texture, reduce hyperpigmentation and remove wrinkles.
